(Critical) Assorted potentially hazardous foods including open can of whipped cream, milk, heavy whipping cream found to be expired/past the expiration date. The whipped cream was marked 12/3/2013. The maximum consume by date is 7 days from when the product is opened to consume or discard. The others had more recent use by dates. Corrected by discarding these foods at time of inspection. Establish a weekly frequency of going through the foods in the cooler to determine if they are past expiration and discard. This must be done at least once a week or once every 7 days

Scoops found sitting in the water in the dipper well without the water being turned on. The water must be on for proper storage of in use scoops. Correct by providing water to the dipper well

Popcorn maker needs cleaning. Clean now and place on a more frequent cleaning schedule

(Critical) Datemarking is not in compliance. All ready to eat foods that are potentially hazardous and ready to eat must be datemarked with a consume by date not to exceed 7 days from when the container is opened or food is prepared. This includes whipped cream, heavy whipping cream and milk. Corrected by discarding unmarked foods at time of inspection and dating the whipped cream which had just been opened. Re -implement the datemarking policy as previously discussed.

The water supply line for the dipper well has fallen down below the top rim of the well for the scoops. Reclamp and secure so that the water supply line is properly airgapped above the top rim of the well in order to protect the water supply from backsiphonage

Light bulbs in the basement and upright freezer are not plastic coated or shielded. Provide plastic coated bulbs or shields so thaat the glass fragments do not get onto the foods if bulb should shatter.

The popcorn machine needs to be cleaned. Popcorn has gotten stuck below the wire mesh in the basket and needs to be removed and properly cleaned as per manufacturer's specifications.

(Critical) Whipped cream found with a consume by date of 1/13/2013 in cooler and others with sell by dates of 2/2013 and 4/15/2013 on the opened milk. Datemarking is required on foods that are potentially hazardous ready to eat held cold in excess of 24 hours. Once marked there is maximum of 7 days for product to be consumed or discarded. Go though coolers routinely in order to dispose of expired foods. Corrected by expired food was discarded at time of inspection and discussion

(Critical) Handsink at the front counter was blocked by wastebasket in front of the sink and large wastebasket in use in rear prep was blocking access to the handsink. Handsinks must be accessible for routine handwashing at all times. Keep wastebaskets in a location so that it does not block the handsink access. Corrected by relocating wastebaskets to an approved location

Implement date marking immediately to be in compliance. Correct by datemarking or discarding any opened containers of potentially hazardous ready to eat foods as indicated above.

Ambient air temperature of 50 degrees f. Potentially hazardous foods must be maintained at 41 degrees f or below. Corrected by discarding food at time of inspection

The condensate line for the reach in cooler has become detached and it is leaking onto the floor. Reattch the condensate line for proper waste disposal

The light bulbs in the basement storage area and in the upright cooler in the basement which is storage for foods used in facility although marked employee refrigerator and bulbs were not shielded or plastic coated. Provide shields for these bulbs to minimize potential for glass fragments to get onto foods if bulb should shatter.

There is a raw wood board used to hold the oven in the rear area. Raw wood is prohibited as it is absorbent and not smooth and cleanable. Either polyurethane or paint the raw wood so that it is sealed.

Aluminum foil lining shelf in front of the popcorn bin is not approved. Use rubber mesh matting or equivalent to store scoops on. Material that is smooth and cleanable is required. Aluminum foil is prohibited for this purpose.

Thermometer missing from the small freezer at front counter and from the upright cooler in the basement and from the pop unit at the front window. Provide thermometers for these units in order to properly monitor the temperatures for these units.

Provide food grade approved buckts/container that are reuseable and cleanable.

(Critical) Observed an open container of half-n-half without a consume by date mark during this inspection the pic person-in-charge corrected this item by providing a proper date marking on carton of half-n-half. Opened on 6/6/11 sell or consume by 6/12/11. Pic corrected this item by proper date marking item during this routine inspection and will include proper date marking in the future for refrigerated dairy items, etc. That require date marking

(Critical) Observed the drain line of the ice machine without proper air gap above the floor drain the ice machine drains into. This item was corrected by the pic during this inspection by elevating the drain line of the ice machine above the drain it drains into with a proper air gap of twice the diameter of the drain line of the ice machine above the floor drain.

Observed the outside garbage dumpster with the access door in the open position. To correct should insturct staff to keep access door to the outside garbage dumpster in the closed position to prevent attraction of pests to the area so that waste food items may be disposed of properly

Observed raw wood shelf located under oven in kitchen. To correct should seal raw wood surfaces with a light color of enamel paint to provide smooth easily cleanable surfaces. Observed three compartment sink separated from back wall to correct should seal the three compartment sink to the wall

Observed the reach-in freezer located in the basement and the overhead room light fixtures without shielding. To correct should schedule replacement of light bulbs with bulbs that are shielded against breakage with a vinyl coated surface, or shielding light tube with end caps, or you may use shielded light fixtures
